A former member of countless punk and hardcore projects, George Michelle uses his DIY ethos to create anthemic, melody-driven dance numbers by any means necessary - opting for collaborations with lesser-heard voices in music. During an age ruled by the archetypal white-male-minimalist DJ, George Michelle offers himself as a weaponised subversion. Less with tasteless mockery, and more with the comic relief that sees him occupy a space many of us have become numb to. He borrows from the overzealous, hyper-stylised mould we’ve seen inundated with Soundcloud rappers, and applies it instead to the worlds of popular house and EDM, with counter-cultural undertones and a disruptive agenda.
